Mark Zuckerberg announced in a press conference outside his Palo Alto, CA office that Facebook will be shut down. The multi-billion dollar franchise that has become the biggest social network of all time will finally meet its end. Mark Zuckerberg says, “Facebook has gotten out of control,” during the press conference, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”
Vice President of Technical Affairs of Facebook, Avrat Humarthi also relays that “After March 15th the whole website shuts down… “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”
The decision to close down Facebook was said to be a difficult decision for Zuckerberg knowing that millions of users and Facebook members will be upset by this move. But he also believes this is for the better. “…people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”
Mixed reactions are now being felt about the closing down of Facebook. Many are frustrated, while many parents are also relieved that “finally the Facebook nightmare is over,” according to a parent from Detroit.
Currrently valued at 7.9 billion dollars, Facebook is ranked among the wealthiest businesses worldwide. But Mark Zuckerberg simply says “I don’t care about the money… I just want my old life back.”
