On the past few weeks I’ve been working on a new venture centered around the iPhone. The process of building our app has been quite an adventure and we’ve experimented with several technologies that were new to us before reaching our current technology stack.
As we’ve finally got our stuff together and made an initial release to a group of testers I thought I’d share some of the technology choices we’ve made and the reasons behind them.

MooTools is a JavaScript framework that focus on being flexible, modular and compact. While still not on par in number of resources with other JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, the MooTools community has generated a large number of articles, tutorials and third party plugins that can be considered and mature and sophisticated enough for most needs.
One of the core principles of MooTools is to provide a better application programming interface for JavaScript developers, making the language better by extending its native elements and providing more concise object oriented utilities.
As a consequence of that, some people may be inclined to think that MooTools treats browser scripting as a less important feature. Indeed, MooTools is not a DOM scripting toolkit, but the whole purpose of making JavaScript better is that developers have a more solid base over which to create readable, robust, reusable browser scripting libraries.

Reduce Comment Spam On Your WordPress Blogs

If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog which is quite popular, the most annoying thing is fighting WordPress comment spam on a regular basis. Every time you login to WordPress dashboard, you see a whole lot of spam comments waiting to be deleted. Either you have to delete them manually or let them die in the spam queue.
The latter option is not recommended as it will increase database size and the resource loading time. Hence, you have to find and fight your way to prevent spam comments in WordPress. This article describes some of the proven techniques which can be used to reduce WordPress comment spam.
